Salal Credit Union branches will be hosting a school supplies drive running from July 15 through August 16. This year, we’re pleased to be supporting Dick Scobee Elementary School in the Auburn School District and the Edmonds School District. We invite you all to join us to help these local students in need have a strong start to the new school year.
Why Access to School Supplies is So Important
Education is a powerful equalizer, but not all families have the same access to the tools and resources their children need to succeed. Recognizing this, both the Auburn and Edmonds School Districts have committed to initiatives that promote equity and support students facing financial and housing challenges.
Auburn School District’s Equity Initiative
Starting in the 2022 school year, the Auburn School District will provide all required school supplies for every student. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to put equity into action, ensuring that all students have the necessary tools for learning without placing a financial burden on their families.
Edmonds School District’s HUB Program
The Edmonds HUB program was established in 2021 and is located on the Alderwood Middle School campus in Lynwood, WA. The program supports students and their families struggling with housing insecurities. Resources available include academic support, Wi-Fi, technology support, meals, and school supplies.
Some specific items needed by the Auburn and Edmonds School Districts include:

• Snack-size zip lock bags
• Tissues
• Baby wipes
• Hand sanitizer (individual or classroom size)
• Pre-sharpened pencils
• Pencil boxes
• Crayons
• Graph college-ruled/ wide-rule / primary-rule composition notebooks
• Colored pencils (set of 12)
• Colored markers (set of 12)
• Fine-tip dry erase markers
How to Participate
Drop off your school supply donations at any Salal Credit Union branch between July 15 and August 16. Financial contributions will also be accepted.
